Where do use this skill?
Everything is negotiated.
The word "negotiation" originated from the Latin expression, "negotiatus", which means "to carry on business".
The process of conferring to arrive at an agreement between different parties, each with their own interests and preferences.
“A give-and-take decision-making process involving interdependent parties with different preferences.”
FEATURES OF NEGOTIATION
• Minimum two parties
• Predetermined goals
• Expecting an outcome
• Resolution and Consensus
• Parties willing to modify their positions
• Parties should understand the purpose of negotiation
Why do we NEGOTIATE?
To reach an agreement
To beat the opposition
To compromise
To settle an argument
To make a point
TYPES OF NEGOTIATION
• Distributive Negotiation
Parties compete over the distribution of a fixed sum of value. The key question in a distributed negotiation is, “Who will claim the most value?” A gain by one side is made at the expanse of other.
The Seller’s goal is to negotiate as high a price as possible; the Buyer’s goal is to negotiate as low a price as possible.
Thus, the deal is confined: there are not much opportunities for creativity or for enlarging the scope of the negotiation.
• Integrative Negotiation
In Integrative Negotiation, parties cooperate to achieve maximize benefits by integrating their interests into an agreement. This is also known as a win-win negotiation.
The key question is: “How can the resource best be utilized?”
Integrative negotiations tend to occur in following situations:
– Structuring of complex long-term Strategic Relationships or other collaborations.
– When the deal involves many financial and non-financial terms.
In an integrative negotiation, there are many items and issues to be negotiated, and the goal of each side is to “create” as much value as possible for itself and the other.
NEGOTIATION TIPS
1) Do not underestimate your power.
2) Do not assume that other party knows your weaknesses.
3) It is a mistake to assume you know what the other party wants.
4) Never accept the 1st offer.
5) Don’t fear to negotiate.

REPORT WRITING
1 Executive Summary
The executive summary should include a summary of all of the key points, the idea is that an executive can read the summary and if it appears logical and inline with expectations the recommendations can be followed without the need to read further. This is in fact the most important part of the report and should be written last. The executive summary should include a summary of all parts of the report including recommendations.
Writing Order: Written after the rest of the report (But before the contents page)
Email Tip: If you are sending the report via email, include the executive summary in the main part of your Email, so that a busy executive doesn’t have to read an attachment to read the main points.
2 Contents
The Contents of the report should be consistently laid out throughout the report and you should include both page numbers and title numbers. In this example we look at the transport requirements for sales people:
3 Introduction / Terms of Reference
The introduction should say why the report is being written. Reports are nearly always written to solve a business problem. Reports maybe commissioned because there is a crisis or they maybe routine. Nearly all reports in some way answer the age-old business problem, how can we increase profits?
Writing Order: Often written first, but maybe refined at anytime. (In Business studies courses this could be done later, because the exact business problem may not be given by the lecturer.)

4 Findings / Main Body
Sometimes reports don’t say Findings, but it is normally assumed that the main part of your report will be the information you have found.
This information is not always read by executives, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t important, because without thorough research and analysis the author will not be able to come to effective conclusions and create recommendations. Also if anything in the executive summary surprises the executive, then they will turn directly to the relevant part of the recommendations.
Writing Order: This is normally written after the 1st draft of the introduction.
5 Conclusions
The conclusions should summarize the Findings section, do not include diagrams or graphs in this area. This area should be short, clearly follow the order of the findings and lead naturally into the recommendations.
You should never include new information in the conclusions!
Writing Order: Written after the Findings
6 Recommendations
All reports should include recommendations or at least suggestions. It is important to make sure that there is at least an indicator of what the Return on Investment would be. It is always best if this can be directly linked, but may not always be possible.
Make sure that your recommendations clearly follow what is said in the conclusions
Tip: if you don’t have any ideas suggest a brainstorming meeting and invite the relevant people.
Writing Order: After the Conclusions"jamesabela"

William Shakespear
William Shakespeare was baptized April 26, 1564, in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. From roughly 1594 onward he was an important member of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men company of theatrical players. Written records give little indication of the way in which Shakespeare’s professional life molded his artistry. All that can be deduced is that over the course of 20 years, Shakespeare wrote plays that capture the complete range of human emotion and conflict."by biography.com"
PROMISE RING
PROMISE RING.
Meaning……….
A promise ring symbolizes a promise or commitment between two people. Promise ring is a Pre-engagement rings, given when two individuals have decided that they will be getting engaged and then married in the future. It happens when two individuals have decided to live together in the future but do not want an official engagement or marriage at the current time. This is the most common meaning for promise rings and in most cases, such promise rings are replaced by the engagement then wedding ring later on.
Many people believe that the third finger is well protected by fingers on either side and that it is not very actively used as compared to the thumb and other fingers. This makes it ideally suited for wearing promise rings (certain cases) and other rings as well. The more romantic explanation for this belief is that there is a 'vein of love' that runs directly from this ring finger to the heart. This ancient belief referred to the 'vena amori', that means vein of love and it's connection to the heart.
Origins Of The Promise Ring
Social life in the ancient times had betrothals as a vital part of life. The origins of the promise ring evolved from the practice of betrothals which was quite different from an engagement. In Biblical terms a betrothal was a contract made through a public announcement. The contract covered financial arrangements and other similar affairs. The parties to the contract could not back away from it and the betrothal was legally binding. The actual wedding would take place after several months but the betrothal contract was a commitment to marriage in the future. A ring would be given by the man to the lady as part of the betrothal ceremony and the ring would be a symbol of his promise to marry her. These are the earliest recordings of the promise ring.
